Second-hand dry bulk semi-trailer
Transport of bulk goods with a dry bulk semi-trailer
A dry bulk semi-trailer is a closed tank-shaped semi-trailer intended for the transport of bulk and powdered products. This type of vehicle is often used to easily transport milk powder, sugar or flour in large quantities, but generally any loose commodity can serve as cargo. Some dry bulk semi-trailers even have a special coating on the inside to prevent contamination of the cargo from the aluminium of the tank. Furthermore, a dry bulk semi-trailer can also be divided into several compartments. This enables you to transport multiple substances separately at the same time.
Types of dry bulk semi-trailers: hopper bottoms, dry bulk tippers or banana trailers
There are three categories of dry bulk semi-trailers: hopper bottoms, dry bulk tippers and banana semi-trailers. A hopper bottom is divided into compartments, each of which has its own discharging opening at the bottom. The unloading at the bottom with overpressure is a frequently used transport method for cattle feed in the agricultural sector. A dry bulk tipper has one unloading opening at the rear of the tank. A hydraulic cylinder tilts the entire semi-trailer to discharge the cargo at the back with overpressure. The 'banana trailer' is a combination of the two systems. It is a bottom-discharger that has only one compartment and a single discharge opening and is often used for the transport of cement.
